In spite of her phrasing, she knows there's probably not really some kind of genetic component when it comes to things like that. It's more having someone to take after. Without her dad around, she doesn't have the first idea how she would have turned out, what she might have been interested in. As it is, she's only ever seen one future for herself. Those expectations may have had to shift slightly here, but it's close enough. After having to learn the hard way in those early days here that, even without her dad's actual presence, she'd be lost trying to figure out anything else to do with herself, she wouldn't see the point in trying that again.
